Please read!! Workshop information

The print workshops are delivered in a fun yet informative way by Claire Sellers and Tracey Stokes, local print makers and experienced technicians to college level.

Adults only please, (unless specified otherwise) although teenagers are welcome with a participating adult.  Please email if you want to enquire further about this.

There will be a maximum of 6 people at each workshop, the smaller numbers giving you more time with your instructors to learn. Please bring some inspiration with you such as sketchbooks, magazine pictures or something that can get you started with an idea. We will also have plenty of inspiration on hand to help.

It would be a good idea to wear old clothes or bring an apron.  We will get messy!  Also, please wear some layers in case you get a little chilly! It can get a little cold in our workshop in the winter months.

Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided but please bring some lunch for all day workshops.

Please pay in full through the website to secure your place on the workshop.

If you are redeeming a voucher, please email us to book your place.

We reserve the right to cancel workshops and offer a full refund if there are insufficient numbers signed up.  If there is any reason you cannot attend, please give us as much notice as you can. No refunds given but please contact us by email as a place on another workshop can be arranged (space permitting.)

Current 2024 workshops

Beginners Screen printing - Saturday 2oth April, 10 - 4pm, £75

Beginners Screen printing

A great introduction to screen printing without using a computer and for an introduction to our equipment for open access.  We will look at 2 methods of screen printing.

Method 1 - We will show you how to prepare an image using hand cut paper stencils for printing through a blank screen.

Method 2 - We will create imagery using mark making and experimental drawing techniques with various materials on a film which will then be exposed onto a screen using photo sensitive emulsion and our exposure equipment.  You will then print your exposed images to create a small edition of prints.

By the end of the day you will know how to prepare screens for exposure, the exposure process will be explained, the processes will be demonstrated and printing techniques shown and you will have two small editions of prints to take home.

For those with little or no experience of screen printing.  Please bring some imagery that you could use as a starting point.  This could be in the form of anything visual that inspires you to create a print.

Lino Printing for beginners - Saturday 18th May, 10 - 1pm, £40.

Beginners Lino Printing - Try your hand at this very popular relief printing technique.  Learn how to adapt a simple image for this technique. After discussing your design, we will transfer it on to the lino and learn how to cut out the image, ink up and print onto paper in black and white.  You will have your own lino block to take away and continue printing with. Once you’ve learnt the basics there is so much more to his technique.  No experience necessary.

Botanical card printing - Saturday 08th June, 10 - 1pm, £40.

Botanical card printing - This is a lovely, relaxing 3 hour workshop in which we will show you how to make your own beautiful and unique cards by printing with plant elements through the press.  We will be using a collection of our leaves and foliage with inks to create unique cards and prints for you to take away. Great for sending to friends and family. We will provide 5 cards & envelopes and a small amount of paper.

Marbling - Saturday 22nd June, 10 - 1pm, £40

Marbling - This is a wonderfully satisfying technique where you will learn how to make beautifully patterned papers. We will be manipulating paints on the surface of thickened water using various tools. The typical marbling patterns will be covered as well as you having the opportunity to create your own unique patterns.
You will have a range of marbled papers to take home. These patterned papers can be used within your own personal projects such as collage, book making, journaling, card making etc. Marbling is messy, so wear clothing that you don’t mind getting paint onto. No experience necessary.
